Mustang Creek Estates of Frisco hosting a food drive


The residents at Mustang Creek Estates of Frisco are hosting a food drive through Friday to benefit the Tarrant Area Food Bank. Items, such as canned meat, peanut butter, boxed pastas, canned fruit, dried beans, cereal, rice and canned juices, will be collected between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. at Mustang Creek Estates, 1200 W. Main St. Donations can be dropped off at Houses E and F.

A portion of eastbound Lebanon Road will close for two weeks starting Tuesday at Frisco Green Avenue. Westbound Lebanon will remain open.

The road is closing so the storm sewer under the road can be expanded. Eastbound traffic on the road will be detoured to south on Frisco Green and then east on John Hickman Parkway to Dallas Parkway.

Frisco ISD to narrow down search firm options


The Frisco ISD board of trustees will hold a special meeting at 11 a.m. Tuesday to discuss narrowing down the options for a search firm. The board is looking to select a search firm as part of the process of hiring a new superintendent.

The meeting will be held at the FISD Administration Building, 5515 Ohio Drive.

John Keating to be sworn in as council member


During Tuesday’s regular Frisco City Council meeting, John Keating will be sworn in as the Place 1 council member. Bob Allen, who holds the Place 1 seat, will step down as he runs for Frisco mayor.

Before Keating is sworn in, the city will recognize Allen for his service to the city and hold a reception for him. Allen was first elected to council in 2002. After being term-limited in the mid-2000s, he was re-elected to council in 2009 and has served consecutive terms ever since.

The meeting begins at 5 p.m. at Frisco City Hall, 6101 Frisco Square Blvd.

Council to vote on involuntary annexation


Also during Tuesday’s meeting, council will vote on involuntarily annexing about 80 acres of land at the southwest corner of Custer Road and Westridge Boulevard.

The proposed annexation includes Russwood Acres, a small neighborhood off Custer. It also includes nearly 5 acres of land owned by affordable housing developer ADC Westridge. The development, Westridge Villas, is being constructed to have 132 multifamily units, 56 of which would be affordable housing.

Council will hold a public hearing on the proposed annexation before voting.
