Public hearing regarding involuntary annexation

Frisco City Council will hold a public hearing today regarding an involuntary annexation of nearly 80 acres at the southwest corner of Custer Road and Westridge Boulevard.

The proposed annexation includes Russwood Acres, a small neighborhood off Custer Road. Russwood Acres residents voiced their concerns about the annexation during the Feb. 7 council meeting.

The proposed annexation also includes nearly 5 acres of land owned by affordable housing developer ADC Westridge. The development, Westridge Villas, is being constructed to have 132 multifamily units, 56 of which would be affordable housing.

The public hearing begins at 5 p.m. at Frisco City Hall, 6101 Frisco Square Blvd.

Open house for 724-acre development

Representatives from American Newland Communities will hold an open house Thursday to discuss plans for a proposed 724-acre development in east Frisco.

The development will stretch from north of Main Street to Rolater Road and from Independence Parkway to Custer Road. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at Nelson Middle School, 10100 Independence Parkway.
