Frisco City Council approved calling a special election Jan. 14 to fill the Place 1 seat. The election date was approved 5-1 with council member Bob Allen voting against the January date. Council had originally discussed holding a February election, but several council members said they wanted to have the new council member elected as soon as possible. Allen, who holds the Place 1 seat, is vacating the seat as he plans to run for Frisco mayor. Filing for the Place 1 seat begins at 8 a.m. Wednesday and runs through 5 p.m. Dec. 5. Eligible candidates for City Council must:
  • be at least age 18 by the time the election occurs;
  • be a qualified voter;
  • live within the corporate city limits for a least one year before the filing date;
  • and not have any outstanding taxes or liabilities due to the city.
Early voting for the election runs Dec. 28-Jan. 10. The early voting and Election Day locations in Frisco will be at Fire Stations No. 4, 7 and 8 and the Collin College Preston Ridge campus.
