From celebrity appearances to runners dressing up in green, take a look at what is happening in Frisco this week.

1. Gander Mountain opens this week


The hunting and outdoor sporting supplies store is holding a grand opening celebration at 10 a.m. this Thursday at its new Frisco location at 12277 Dallas Parkway. The event will include guest appearances from country music artist Murphy Elmore, professional anglers, product developers and TV hosts. Attendees could also have the chance to receive and autograph from former professional football players Earl Campbell, Jordan Shipley, and Jay Novacek.

“We are all extremely excited and proud to be in Frisco,” said Rodney Tolar, Frisco Gander Mountain store manager. “We’ve received such positive feedback from the community."

2. Collin College board of trustees to vote on bond election resolution


The board will vote on a resolution Tuesday that establishes the intent to call a bond election for May 2017. An official vote to call for a bond election is expected in February 2017. The board will also vote on establishing a citizen’s committee to help implement the college’s new master plan.

3. Color Me Green 5K and 10K returns to Frisco


Benefitting the TeamConnor Childhood Cancer Foundation, this event encourages participants to dress up in green during the race. The event begins at 7:30 a.m. this Saturday. For more information, visit www.teamconnor.org.
