Lakshmir Kammeth recently opened Artuforia in Frisco.

The art gallery sells Indian folk art representing distinct tribal art from different parts of India, Kammeth said.

All artwork is handmade by artists who have learned varying techniques from India. These techniques include Phad painting, which is a traditional form of scroll painting from Rajasthan; Madhubani painting, which uses natural pigments derived from plants and originated in the Mithila region of Bihar and Nepal; and Warli art, which utilizes geometric shapes and originates in Maharashtra.

“I hope to inspire other artists to learn about different cultures,” Kammeth said.
