Several park and trail systems are being renovated in cities like McKinney, Plano and Frisco. Meanwhile, developers in Richardson are working to create downtown more walkable for residents by tying development to the city's trail system.

Park master plan calls for more tennis courts, trails, pier in Flower Mound

After several months of planning, a master plan for Leonard and Helen Johns Community Park is complete. Potential improvements for the park include: five new tennis courts, a nature-themed play area and amphitheater, additional trails within the park’s existing trail network, a fishing pier and potential nature observation areas.

10 park, trail projects underway in Frisco


Frisco officials are working to add more than 1,300 acres of park space and 1.3 miles of trails in the next few years. Several park and trail projects are set for design and construction completion by the end of 2025.

Grapevine Parks and Recreation OKs $349K contract for master plan development

The plan will guide the development and management of Grapevine's parks, recreation facilities and open spaces, serving as a framework for future planning and prioritization of projects.

McKinney's Randles Park renovation project includes the addition of a new basketball court and splash pad, and expanded play equipment. The project also includes work on a pavilion, trails and the parking lot. The construction of McKinney Greens Park is underway and will include a playground, boardwalk, walking trails, a pavilion and a parking lot.

$2M renovation coming to Longhorn Park

Longhorn Park on Robin Road will receive a new playground and improved amenities as part of a $2 million renovation. Other park improvements include a new irrigation system, improved lighting, new exercise equipment and updates for full ADA compliance.
