The new gym officially opened Jan. 3, location General Manager Nolan Ritchie said. Texas Family Fitness’ mission is to provide affordable, first-class fitness, Ritchie said. The location offers cardio strength spaces, group fitness classes, cycle classes, a recovery lounge, a women’s-only workout space and a kids area, he said.7. The Exercise Coach


Co-owners Michele and Jim Montgomery opened The Exercise Coach’s north Frisco location, the second in the city, in mid-January, Jim Montgomery said. The appointment-only studio offers technology- and data-driven, personalized exercises designed to help clients reach their fitness goals, such as improving strength and stamina, muscle tone, weight loss, and overall health.8. 11. Session Pilates

The Pilates studio chain has locations in Lakewood, Plano and Dallas, according to its website. It offers music beat-based, high-intensity workouts for both experienced and beginner members, according to a Jan. 18 news release from the company. Session Pilates also lets members buy out a class for private events, such as team bonding or parties, according to its website.12. Universal Billiards

13. The University of North Texas at Frisco

The university celebrated the first anniversary of the Frisco Landing campus Jan. 11. The celebration included university staff, students and community members along with the creation of a time capsule to commemorate the campus’s first year.
