After being in the automotive repair industry for about 15 years, Joe Yannessa said he was tired of seeing repair shops take advantage of customers. He said he would see customers leaving a shop time after time with buyer’s remorse.

So Yannessa decided to open his own auto repair shop with a new focus.

“I decided to go out and start Solutions Automotive with a different mindset to making it about the customer and making it about 100 percent customer satisfaction, making sure in the automotive repair of their vehicle that they’re being educated on the repair and the fix that they need,” he said.

Yannessa opened the first Solutions Automotive about 14 years ago in McKinney. The Frisco location opened last year.

Solutions Automotive can perform maintenance on many areas of a vehicle, including engines, suspensions, brakes, air conditioning and transmissions. The shop’s technicians can also perform state inspections.

The shop can also perform scheduled maintenance on a vehicle. And if a customer cannot bring a vehicle to the shop, a pickup can be scheduled from someone’s home.

“We try to be a one-stop shop,” Yannessa said. “If we can’t do it, we’re going to find somebody that can help you out because we want to make our customers happy.”

Employees at Solutions Automotive also regularly give back to the community. Yannessa said the shop has supported charities, such as Frisco Family Services, Folds of Honor and The Samaritan Inn.

The shop also has a Pay It Forward Friday program where the employees will repair a vehicle free of charge. The program started when Yannessa wanted to help a single mother whose car was broken down.

The program has fixed cars for military veterans, local teachers and other individuals in need, Yannessa said.

Yannessa said he wants Solutions Automotive to stand out from the typical auto repair shop.

“We’re trying to be kind of like a diamond in the rough,” he said. “We just want it to be different than any other automotive experience.”
