Jon Kendall is not a programmer by trade. His background is in sales, not web design. Yet, this entrepreneur owns one of the top web development and marketing companies in Frisco.


His business, Osky Blue, won the Frisco Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business of the Year award at this year’s annual chamber gala and recently celebrated moving into a new office space.


Osky Blue started in 2010 in Tyler, Texas. Kendall and his former business partner started the company with a focus on search engine optimization and web development.


Kendall said he always enjoyed helping companies figure out what they needed to do to grow.


“I guess that’s kind of my adrenaline, just seeing something in an incubator stage and seeing it grow over time,” he said.


The company moved to Frisco about four years ago. Since moving to Frisco, Osky Blue’s client base has grown to about 160 clients. The company has also added software development and information technology services. The IT services allow the company to perform maintenance on clients’ computers in addition to their websites, Kendall said.


When building another company’s website, Kendall said his team will work to “impress Google first.”


“Google doesn’t have eyeballs; it can’t see,” he said. “It
doesn’t even know that you have a website. But what it can do is read. So we try to build your website so that it’s very Google-friendly.”

Last year, Kendall bought out his business partner. This year, the company announced that Rich Allen of Tour de Profit has invested in Osky Blue as part owner and partner. Along with the new partnership, Kendall said he is considering how to focus Osky Blue for specific clients.


“It wasn’t intentional, but we have clients all across the spectrum,” he said. “We do orthopedic surgeons, chiropractors, dentists, auto repair shops and attorneys. I can see us maybe picking our top five industries and honing in more on that.”
