1. Unofficial results show FISD tax increase fails

According to unofficial voting results for the Frisco ISD tax ratification election, 11,059 votes, or 58.4 percent of the vote, are against the 13 cent increase to the district’s property tax rate, while 7,875 votes, or 41.6 percent of the vote, are in favor of the tax hike. 2. Hurts Donut to open first Texas store in Frisco

Frisco residents Keith and Cheryl Selby will open the first Hurts Donut shop in Texas this fall at the new Teel Crossing Center at 3288 Main St., Ste. 101. This story from July 29 can be found here.

3. Nordstrom Rack and J. Crew Mercantile coming to Frisco

Nordstrom Rack and J. Crew Mercantile will open at The Centre at Preston Ridge in Frisco. The 6,000-square-foot store for J. Crew Mercantile is scheduled to open this fall, and the 33,000-square-foot Nordstrom Rack is scheduled to open in fall 2017. This story from July 25 can be found here.

4. 729-acre residential development planned for east Frisco

A 729-acre master-planned community is in the works on the east side of Frisco on property owned by the Gartner family. American Newland Communities and North America Sekisui House, also called NASH, announced June 15 the acquisition of the land in a joint venture to develop single-family and multifamily housing, office space and retail space. 5. Babe's Chicken Dinner House

Paul Vinyard said he opened Babe’s Chicken Dinner House with a mission to bring families together and to help others. Paul and his wife Mary Beth, whose nickname was Babe, first opened Babe’s Chicken in Roanoke, Texas, in 1993. Paul said he and his wife opened the restaurant hoping to take care of their children and put them through college.
