It is the weekend before Halloween, and there are plenty of things to do with the family in Frisco. Here are six things to do this weekend:

Friday: Trick-or-Treat at Frisco Fire Safety Town

Hosted at Frisco Fire Safety Town, children are invited to come in costume and trick-or-treat inside the mini-town. Free remote parking is available at the Frisco Athletic Center, 5828 Nancy Jane Lane. The free event takes place from 6-9 p.m. at 8601 Gary Burns Drive.

Saturday: Gary Burns Fun Run

The annual Gary Burns Fun Run benefits the Frisco Education Foundation and the Gary Burns Memorial Scholarship. Race day registration begins at 6:30 a.m. at Toyota Stadium, 9200 World Cup Way. Entry is $35 for adults and $25 for students and children. The one-mile walk and fun run begins at 8 a.m., and the 5K begins at 8:30 a.m. The event includes other festivities.

Saturday: Frisco Better Block

The Better Block Foundation is a nonprofit that educates and equips communities and their leaders to reshape and reactivate established environments. Frisco’s one-day event will turn the Ball Park Plaza area into “the most walkable place in Frisco” and will include workshops, food trucks, RoughRiders Fall Festival, Frisco Farmers Market and bike lanes. The free event takes place from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Ball Park Plaza, 7600 John Q. Hammons Drive.

Saturday: American Cheer Power Halloween Holiday Championship

The All Star Prep School dancers come to Frisco with cheer and dance team routines, as well as individual competitors. Spectators age 10 and younger are encouraged to dress up to receive free admission and be able to trick-or-treat at vendors. The event is free for children age 5 and younger and $15 for regular admission. Spectators age 60 and older and military personnel receive a $5 discount on admission. The event takes place from 9 a.m.-8:30 p.m. at Dr. Pepper Arena, 2601 Avenue of the Stars.

Saturday: Doc's Halloween ComicFest

In its fifth year, Halloween ComicFest is an annual event where participating comic book shops celebrate by giving away free comic books as a way to introduce people to new titles and comic books in general. The free event takes place 11 a.m.-10 p.m. at  Doc’s Comics & Games, 2787 Preston Road, Ste. 1120.

Sunday: Trick or Treat the Square

The sixth annual event features trick-or-treating at restaurants, shops and businesses, as well as a petting zoo, face painters, balloon artists, horse-drawn wagon rides, a pooch parade and costume contest, and dog adoptions. The event is for age 12 and younger. The free event takes place from 1-4 p.m. at  Frisco Square, 8874 Coleman Blvd.
