Flower Mound Town Council has allocated nearly $400,000 for design work that will cover three street projects.

Council members approved a design contract with Kimley-Horn worth $398,000 during the Dec. 1 meeting.

The details

The design contract covers reconstruction projects for three streets: Marcus Drive between Colony Street and Coker Drive; Marcus Court; and Prospect Drive. The roads were originally constructed in 1984, according to town documents.

Per town documents, work along Marcus Drive will include:
  • Reconstruction of about 1,500 feet of concrete pavement within the street segment
  • Reconstruction of barrier-free ramps and 4-foot sidewalks
  • Replacement of the 8-foot water main along the segment
  • Repairs to a single defect in the sanitary sewer
The portion of the project for Marcus Court will focus on reconstruction of the concrete pavement, 4-foot sidewalk and barrier-free ramps. No work is anticipated for water and sewer infrastructure along the street, which was assessed to be in good condition, according to town documents.

Prospect Drive construction is not planned to include water and sewer lines. It will include repairs to three manholes, along with the reconstruction of the pavement, 4-foot sidewalks and barrier-free ramps, per town documents.

Also of note

The project will be funded by 2025 bond funds earmarked for street reconstruction. Flower Mound voters approved the $112 million 2025 bond package in May.
