A road construction project along Garden Ridge Boulevard is set to be completed in early July, according to Flower Mound officials.

Crews with Apex Construction are working on repairs to Garden Ridge Boulevard between Aspen Way and Paisley Drive, according to a town news release. Construction began June 23.

What you need to know

The work includes repairs to the concrete pavement and the road’s subgrade, which is the native material beneath a street, Flower Mound Communications Director Melissa Demmitt said in an email.

Work began on the northbound lanes and included the closure of one through lane. Once construction on the northbound lanes is completed, crews will move to the southbound lanes, per the release.

“This area was identified as being in poor condition through our pavement maintenance program,” Demmitt said. “Repairs are prioritized based on issues such as cracking, surface failures, or subgrade failures that could compromise safety or increase future maintenance costs.”

The project, which has a cost of $140,000, is funded through the operating budget for Flower Mound’s Streets Maintenance division, Demmitt said.

One more thing

Construction on the road is expected to wrap up July 4, weather permitting, according to the release.
