There are several transportation projects in the works in Flower Mound that will progress in 2025.

Denton Creek Boulevard Bridge

A new multi-span bridge is being built over Denton Creek, along with two 12-inch water lines, an 8-inch reuse water line and a multi-use trail extension. As of now, design and right-of-way acquisition of the project are complete, and the town council approved a construction award in July. The contractor is currently installing concrete piers and bent caps, and beam installation is scheduled for January. The bridge will eventually provide access to I-35 W., according to previous Community Impact reporting.
  • Project budget: $7,057,000
  • Funding source(s): impact fees, Denton County bond, project savings
  • Anticipated completion: summer 2025
Rippy Road (Pecan Meadows to FM 2499)

Rippy Road is under construction, being turned from a two-lane open section asphalt roadway to a two-lane concrete urban collector. The project consists of improvements to about 2,500 linear feet of existing lanes, as well as an enclosure to improve storm water collection. It begins at Pecan Meadows and extends south and east to approximately 300 feet west of FM 2499.

Construction was initially expected to start in summer 2021, but right-of-way acquisition delayed the project. Main lane paving for Phase 1 and 2 of the project are complete. The contractor is preparing subgrade for the remaining southbound lanes. Traffic on Rippy Road between FM 2499 and Cedar Street will be westbound only. Town staff say residents should expect traffic delays while the work is being done and should use Waketon Road as an alternate route.
  • Project budget: $9,250,000
  • Funding source(s): TIRZ, water impact fees
  • Anticipated completion: spring 2025
Sidewalks Links and ADA Improvements Annual Program

Every year, Flower Mound officials initiate projects to ensure it is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. These projects can include construction of missing sidewalk and ADA ramps, as well as facility and park improvements. The town’s transportation commission recommends these projects every year. Every project recommended in the last fiscal year was completed. This year, projects include improvements to FM 3040 at Tealwood Lane and FM 2499 at Market Street.
  • Project budget: $150,000 annually
  • Funding source(s): other, cash from general fund
Flower Mound Road panel replacements

Road panels along Flower Mound Road from FM 2499 to FM 1171 are being replaced. The replacements began in June. Phase 1 of the project is nearly complete. Phase 2 work will occur near the intersection of Old Settlers and Flower Mound roads and should occur in summer 2025. Message boards will notify drivers of upcoming lane changes. Residents are encouraged to reduce their speeds and use alternate routes when possible.
