The city of Highland Village is slated to receive a $90,797 reimbursement for sidewalk construction on Highland Village Road.

What happened

Denton County Transportation Authority’s board of directors approved the reimbursement with an amendment to the agency’s 2021 Transportation Reinvestment Program agreement with Highland Village. The amendment enables Highland Village to fully apply its program allocation—about $380,000—to the project, according to the board agenda.

The project is estimated to cost about $921,656 in total and was funded by the city's 2018 bond program.

The details

In 2021, the board approved a funding request for the project that planned for construction of concrete sidewalks along portions of Highland Village Road. The project consisted of two phases, according to a June 2021 board agenda:
  • About 1,950 feet of sidewalk would be constructed from north of the Highland Village Municipal Complex to Clearwater Drive.
  • About 3,150 feet would be constructed from Clearwater Drive to Sellmeyer Lane.
The city originally requested $288,794 to be reimbursed from the transportation authority’s reinvestment program.

Sidewalk construction started in 2022, after Highland Village City Council approved a contract with Trisura Insurance Company and Talbran Enterprises LLC to complete the project.
