The Texas Department of Transportation will be hosting an open house-style meeting on the upcoming FM 1171 extension.

The meeting, which will operate as a meet-and-greet with project engineers and TxDOT officials, is scheduled for April 6.

Meeting details: Blueprints of the project will be on hand for the public to view, and project engineers will be present to chat with residents.

  • Free to attend, although TxDOT will ask attendees to register
Project details: TxDOT is proposing a 3.5-mile extension of FM 1171 from I-35 West in Northlake to FM 156 in Justin. FM 1171 ends at Denton Creek, west of Northlake; the project would extend the road over the creek until it connects with FM 156.
  • Widen John Wiley Road to six lanes
  • Widen Tally Boulevard to four lanes
  • New median-divided pavement, turn lanes and bridges
  • Pedestrian and bicycle paths
Relocation assistance will be available for any displaced property owners, per TxDOT officials.
