Design for Phase 1 of the Denton Creek Reuse project is underway after the Flower Mound Town Council unanimously approved an agreement with Kimley-Horn and Associates at a Nov. 3 meeting.

The final design for Phase 1 will cost the town $1.45 million, and will include a pump station and ground storage tank.

A closer look

The purpose of the project is to provide western Flower Mound with treated wastewater for irrigation purposes, Assistant Director of Engineering Dale Crown said.

The project consists of three phases, which are all in the town’s capital improvement plan for this year, Crown said.

The project phases include:
  • A reuse pump station and ground storage tank project
  • A reuse water lines project
  • A west side water line south project
When the first phase is complete, it will provide a 3.5 million gallon ground storage tank, a pump station and 19,600 linear feet of waterlines for the town. The construction cost for Phase 1 is $29 million, according to town documents.

Next steps

Dale said the town will look to bid the construction project in late 2026. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2027 and Phase 1 is expected to be complete by winter 2028.
