Argyle residents will have a slightly lower property tax rate following the unanimous approval of the property tax rate and fiscal year 2025-26 budget at the Sept. 15 council meeting.

The council adopted a $20.36 million budget for FY 2025-26, which includes funds for road improvements, the town center and police department project, and the Argyle Nature Trail.

“[The budget] achieves our strategic goals,” council member Casey Stewart said. “It’s going in the direction that we want as far as spending money where we want.”

Council adopted a wastewater fee increase during the Sept. 15 meeting, which will take effect Nov. 1, per town documents. The rate will increase by 4%, which means residents within town limits will pay a monthly service fee of $50, up from the $47.62 monthly service fee from fiscal year 2024-25. The monthly service fee includes the first 2,000 gallons of wastewater.

Residents within town limits will also pay $4.05 per 1,000 gallons of wastewater used after the first 2,000 gallons, which is up from the $3.86 per 1,000 gallons that residents within town limits had to pay last fiscal year.

The rate increase is to pay for any repairs or enhancements to the wastewater infrastructure, potential raised fees imposed by the Trinity River Authority and the city of Denton for treating the wastewater, and debt service fees related to the relocation of sewage lines on US 377, according to town documents.
