With Town Secretary Theresa Scott set to retire in June, Flower Mound Town Council named Scott’s replacement, according to a news release.

Council appointed Traci Henderson as the next town secretary, per the news release. Henderson is expected to start July 7.

“I am so excited to join the town of Flower Mound and build upon the great work the Town Secretary’s Office has done to advance transparency and act as a liaison between the public and their elected officials,” Henderson said in the news release. “I can’t wait to get on board and get started.”

The overview

Henderson has served as the assistant city secretary for North Richland Hills since 2017 and has also worked for Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, the city of Stephenville and the city of Southlake, according to the news release.

Flower Mound’s town secretary is responsible for overseeing several functions, including:
  • Records management
  • Municipal elections
  • Meeting agendas and minutes
  • The appointment process for town boards and commissions
  • Administrative support for council
“The town secretary role does so much behind the scenes to ensure everything runs smoothly for council, for our boards and commissions, and for our residents,” Mayor Cheryl Moore said in the news release. “Anytime you go to the polls for a local election, when you request public information from the town, when you read through an agenda ahead of a public meeting, or you attend the Citizens Academy, you are benefitting from the work of the town secretary.”

One more thing

Scott has worked for Flower Mound for 18 years, according to the news release.
