Highland Village council members unanimously approved an updated site plan, which includes a smaller footprint for the store in Highland Village Town Center, during a March 25 meeting.
The overview
The proposed HTeaO location will sit within a 2,168-square-foot building, which is 385 square feet smaller than the originally approved site plan from 2022, according to city documents. Because of the site plan change, council members had to consider the item for approval.
The property of the future business is leased from Pennsylvania-based Brixmor, who owns the shopping center, per city documents.
In addition to the construction of a new building, HTeaO will pay for an 8-foot sidewalk along FM 407, Director of Public Works Scott Kriston said. Plans for the business also include two drive-thru lanes, according to city documents.
Some context
The first site plan for the property was approved in February 2022 before HTeaO elected to make the store corporate owned instead of a franchise location, Kriston said.
Interplan’s Director of Development Services Monica Pomroy, who represented HTeaO for the zoning case, said that ground has already broken at the site and design plans are ready to be submitted for city approval.
Looking ahead
Once Highland Village staff approve a building permit to allow construction to proceed, Pomroy said construction is expected to last around six months.
