While the cities of Flower Mound and Argyle both had population growth, the number of Highland Village residents declined over the last five years, according to the latest data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The bureau released new five-year data Dec. 12, which is part of its American Community Survey. The newest data represents a five-year estimate of the population across the United States from 2019 through 2023, according to the bureau’s website.

The details

Flower Mound’s population grew by nearly 3.57% from 76,555 to 79,292, according to the data. Over the same period, Highland Village’s population shrunk slightly by 3.12% from 16,519 to 16,004.

Argyle’s population had some population growth going from 4,112 people in 2019 to 4,970 in 2023, a 20.87% growth. Denton County’s population rose from 833,822 to 945,644, a 13.41% increase.

Argyle’s population that identifies as white was 97.5% in 2019, compared to 88.3% in 2023. The town's population identifying as two or more races increased from 0.1% in 2019 to 5.4% in 2023.
