Flower Mound residents will have the opportunity to recycle their Christmas trees in town this holiday season. The town hosts an annual program for recycling Christmas trees.

What you need to know

Beginning Dec. 26 through Jan. 5, the Flower Mound Parks and Recreation Department will be mulching live, unflocked Christmas trees. From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, residents can bring their tree to Gerault Park at 1200 Gerault Road to be mulched, Flower Mound Director of Communications Melissa Demmitt said in an email.

"If you’d like to take some of the mulch, you’re encouraged to bring your own containers for transporting,” Demmitt said.

What else?

The recycling program will not be available to commercial Christmas tree businesses. Trees cannot be flocked, and must have all nails and decorations removed. Lumber and trash will not be allowed, Demmitt said.
