Officials in Argyle plan to bring a new law enforcement center to town. Argyle Town Council members unanimously voted to put out a request for proposals for the new center in the town during the Nov. 18 meeting. Argyle officials purchased six acres of land on FM 407 in September for the new center. The request for proposals will be seeking a construction manager for the project and will be live for about 90 days.

The details

Argyle Mayor Rick Bradford said the center was his top priority. Emmitt Jackson, Argyle Police Chief, said the new center is needed because there’s limited space at the current police station.

“I get asked five times a week, ‘Hey, chief, I hear you’re getting a new [law enforcement center]. Where are we on that?’” Jackson explained to Town Council on Nov. 18. “The unfortunate answer I have to give them is I have no idea.”

Ahead of the vote to put out a request for proposals, Jackson said he and his officers were looking for some momentum on the project. They got that with the council’s vote, he said.

What they’re saying

Bradford said it was time to move forward on the project.

“We’ve talked about this ad nauseam, and it’s time to make a commitment to our police department, to our citizens, and figure out what that path forward is,” Bradford said.

Jackson said he appreciated the motion to put out a request for proposals.

“That’s really all that the men and women that work for the Argyle Police Department were looking for,” Jackson said.

There’s still no timeline on when the center will be finished but it will be named after Don Moser, a former Argyle mayor and retired firefighter who died in April 2022.
