Craig Bouck, principal and strategy partner with Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture, showed artist renderings of the proposed design updates of the center to Flower Mound Town Council at its July 15 council meeting.
A newly formed Blue Ribbon Bond Committee will examine the center as part of its mission to explore capital improvements around town.
The details
The updated CAC would have new structural components on the east, north and west ends of the complex, including the addition of a leisure swimming area on the west side and gym space on the east side. Recreation areas will also be added in the building. The area where gym space exists now, in the middle part of the building, would be transformed into a fitness space.
Bouck said the expansion could include 7,500 square feet of outdoor patio, restrooms and concessions.
A bond, estimated at $49.1 million from Bouck’s presentation, would be needed for the project and is expected to be placed on a May 2025 ballot for voter approval. A final presentation will be delivered next month. Should voters approve the bond, a grand opening of the expanded, renovated center is anticipated for late 2028.
Zooming in
If all additions and expansions are included, the building would expand to 115,400 square feet from its current 60,000-square-feet footprint.
“We’re going to extend the life of this building to the next 15 years,” Bouck said.
The CAC was originally built in 2008 on the north end of the Gerault Park property, a council agenda memo states.
