Argyle and Flower Mound's populations have risen in the last five years while Highland Village's dropped a modest amount, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2022 American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates released Dec. 7.

In a nutshell

Argyle's population—now 4,638—rose by 20% in the past five years, according to American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates. The 2017 estimate showed Argyle's population to be 3,865.

Flower Mound—now at 76,630—saw a 7% population increase in the past five years. The town's population was 71,575 in 2017.

Highland Village, on the other hand, saw its population drop from 16,168 in 2017 to 15,883 to 2022, a 1.8% decrease.


What else?

Each city and town experienced some changes to some groups, according to the American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates.
  • In Highland Village, the 40-59 age bracket dropped nearly 1,000 residents from 6,339 to 5,311 over the five years, a 16.2% drop.
  • In Argyle, though, that age bracket—40-59— increased from 1,292 to 2,118 in those five years, a 64% increase.
  • In Flower Mound, the most significant change in the age bracket category occurred in the 60-79 group, with more than 4,100 people added from 2017 to 2022, as the numbers shot from 8,239 to 12,379, a 50% increase.
  • Also in Flower Mound, the percentage of Asian and Hispanic/Latino residents rose in the five years. The percentage of Hispanic residents increased from 6,602 to 8,952, or 9.2% to 11.7%, and the number of Asian residents went from 6,924 to 10,294, or 9.7% to 13.4%. The percentage of white residents decreased in the five years from 52,933 to 51,961, or 74% to 67.8%.
  • In Argyle, the percentage of Asian residents increased from 0.7% to 4.1%, from 26 to 190.
