People representing several community groups and organizations presented information to Flower Mound Town Council at the June 5 meeting in an appeal to receive funding for their efforts to better the community, the groups said.

Individuals from other community groups will appear at the June 19 council meeting to also discuss how their organizations affect the community.

A closer look

The town provides annual funding to community support organizations that offer activities, programs and services to the residents of Flower Mound, the town states on its website.

“Organizations that can be reasonably categorized under the heading of Community Support and impact the lives of Flower Mound residents are eligible for funding,” the website states. “The Town Council will identify which organizations will receive community support funding during the annual budget process.”

The details

Funding decisions are made as part of the budget process, so grant funding will be approved along with the budget in September, town Communications Director Melissa Demmitt said. That budget and the terms of the grants will begin Oct. 1, she said. Funds for the program come from the town’s general fund.
