Why are you running for school board and what prompted your interest in serving the community in this way?

My motivation to run for re-election continues to be the students and staff of Argyle ISD. Over my 16 years in Argyle, nine of those as an Argyle ISD trustee, I have had the honor of meeting hundreds of students, staff and families. Collectively, they are what make Argyle ISD unique and it is my privilege to serve them and do all I can to maintain the cultural values, educational excellence and the highest standards for success.

What are some issues facing the district, and do you like where the district stands now as far as academics, finances and programming (for example, extracurricular activities)?

Rapid growth continues to be one of the top issues facing the district. Early in the 2022-2023 school year Argyle ISD welcomed its 5,000th student. In addition to planning and preparing for adequate learning space, the challenge of maintaining the culture is always top of mind. The students and staff at Argyle ISD are exemplary; evidenced by its recent 12th Lone Star Cup victory. The community’s continued support of the district at all levels is what allows us to maintain an expected level of excellence.

What are some issues that you are especially interested in seeing the board and district examine?

I believe we have to continue to focusing in multiple areas: safety and security, strategic growth plan, fiscal responsibility and strengthening our policies to align with our community and district values.

What do you hope to accomplish on the board?

I will continue the work I started over my previous three terms as an AISD trustee, continuing to focus on: 1) the safety and security of our students and staff, 2) fiscal responsibility (specifically related to architects, construction and growth) and 3) diligently working to maintain the cultural values of both Argyle ISD and the community.

Argyle’s enrollment is expected to nearly double in the next several years. Do you think the administration is handling growth in a prudent manner?

The district has grown 13% in student enrollment since the end of the 2021-2022 school year. Per the district demographer, the AISD is expected to reach nearly 12,000 students in the next 10 years. In the January 2023 board meeting, district administration presented a 10 Year Strategic Growth Plan which, the board of trustees unanimously adopted. The 10 Year Strategic Growth Plan is meant to serve as a guide as the district continues to grow. The district administration and the board of trustees will continue to work collectively in coordination with the demographer to address the rapid growth across the district.

What is your opinion about the need for more bond elections in the future?

The recently presented and unanimously adopted 10 Year Strategic Growth Plans spells out the need for future Argyle ISD bond elections. The districts rapid growth continues to create the need for additional instructional space, resulting in an expected bond election in 2024 or 2025. The bond would include Elementary No. 6, Middle School No. 2, high school additions at the Canyon Falls campus and US 377 campus.

Occupation: Lawyer

Why are you running for school board and what prompted your interest in serving the community in this way?

I was motivated to run for this position because I felt a call to serve. My qualifications and background as a corporate attorney, business owner, and mother can bring a unique and much needed perspective to the board.

What are some issues facing the district, and do you like where the district stands now as far as academics, finances and programming (for example, extracurricular activities)?

Our district is facing significant growth issues. We currently have a superior record in terms of academics and extracurricular activities. But there is always room for improvement. It will require hard work to maintain our excellence going forward.

What are some issues that you are especially interested in seeing the board and district examine?

I am especially interested in the board and district examining the current 10-year strategic growth plan, adding additional course offerings, and continuously monitoring and improving our curriculum with transparency and involvement by parents.

What do you hope to accomplish on the board?

I hope to bring a new level of transparency, fiscal leadership, and diversity for decision-making to the board. We also need board members with a demonstrated ability to build consensus and achieve collaborative outcomes that facilitate equity and access to quality education for all students within our district.

Argyle’s enrollment is expected to nearly double in the next several years. Do you think the administration is handling growth in a prudent manner?

I believe the administration is working hard to handle the growth. The 10-year plan needs to be continually reviewed to ensure it fits the overall needs and goals of the district.

What is your opinion about the need for more bond elections in the future?

My opinion regarding bond elections in the future is that they will inevitably be needed based on the projected growth. However, any proposed bonds need to be heavily evaluated based on what is legally allowed and what will offer the most benefits to the whole district.
