Interested residents still have a month to register for Flower Mound’s annual Veterans Day Relay Run scheduled to be held Nov. 10.

The background

Officials from the town of Flower Mound and resident volunteers have honored veterans with this relay, which spans 31.8 miles through Flower Mound, since 2014, according to a story on the town website. Registration ends Oct. 15.

The details

The route takes volunteer runners past every elementary, middle and high school in town so students can cheer on the runners. Each participant runs a one- to two-mile portion of the relay while holding an American flag that’s passed to the next runner as he or she completes his or her run, according to town officials.

Chosen runners will be notified of their relay location and times the week of Oct. 23. There will be a mandatory relay participant meeting on Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. at the Community Activity Center, 1200 Gerault Road, Flower Mound.
