To run, candidates must be residents of at least a year in the municipalities they’re hoping to hold office in. They also need to be qualified voters in the jurisdiction.
In Flower Mound, candidates must be 21 years old or older. In Argyle and Highland Village, candidates must be at least 18 years old. Candidates in all three towns must hold no other public office besides that of notary or a member of the National Guard, military reserve or Coast Guard Reserve.
Flower Mound is accepting applications for the May 3 election for Places 1 and 3 on the Town Council. Town Council members Adam Schiestel and Brian Taylor are incumbents in these races respectively. Officials in the town serve three-year terms. Find more about Flower Mound's elections here.
In Highland Village, where representatives serve two-year terms, elections will be held for Places 3, 5 and 7 on the city council. City Council members Kevin Cox, Rhonda Hurst and Brian Fiorenza are the incumbents in Highland Village. More information can be found on the city's website.
In Argyle, the position for mayor, and council Places 2 and 4 are all up for election. Mayor Rick Bradford, and council members Ronald Schmidt and Casey Stewart are the incumbents in these races. Elections are also being held in the towns of Bartonville, Double Oak and Northlake, where there are similar requirements to run.
In Bartonville, council Places 1, 3 and 5 are up for grabs. Jim Roberts, Clay Sams and Margie Arens are the incumbents in Bartonville. Officials in town have put more election information on the town's website.
