Argyle ISD Construction Manager Jeff Koehn gave an update to the board of trustees March 24 on progress at the district’s new high school stadium and middle school.

The details

Koehn said that while the high winds of late have been an issue, progress is still being made on both projects.

He added that while pavement work continues for a new parking lot at the stadium, vertical construction should begin this week.

“Over the next 10 days, I’m told we’re going to see a 105-foot elevator tower constructed,” Koehn said.

According to previous Community Impact reporting, the stadium will be outfitted with a two story press box and mezzanine level on the first floor as well as three concession stands and restrooms. As part of the project, the district is constructing a new indoor activity center at Argyle High School, comparable in size and features to the current one.

Key milestones for the stadium project includes:
  • March 2025 - press box erection begins
  • Spring 2025 - indoor activity center erection begins and visitor grandstall installation
  • Summer 2025 - home grandstall installation
  • November 2025 - substantial completion of project
Construction on the new middle school, which is located off FM 407, is also moving along. Koehn said during his site visit to the new middle school last week, he saw substantial progress.

“I was amazed at just how much is going on out there,” Koehn said.

Looking ahead, Koehn summarized a few key developments in the middle school’s construction schedule:
  • Next 4-6 weeks: Paving expected to be complete and steel erection should begin
  • July 2026: Substantial completion of project
What else?

According to district documents, the new middle school, which is scheduled to open August 2026, is projected to cost approximately $89 million. It will accommodate seventh and eighth grades and have a capacity of 1,200 students.
