After reviewing the projects in early March, LISD trustees approved maximum prices for the projects at the March 17 board meeting. The projects will consist of maintenance and repair upgrades at elementary, middle and high schools and administrative facilities as part of the 2023 bond package.
The details
While some campuses may require more work than others, each will receive a variety of life-cycle maintenance and repair upgrades, which usually include replacing or repairing roofs, HVAC and fire alarm systems, furniture, flooring lighting, doors and hardware, generators, and paint. Trustees approved the following full and partial maximum prices for maintenance work:
- Around $8.5 million at Lamar Middle School, the Facilities Service Center, the Welcome Center and one of the wings of Old Settlers Elementary. The price includes the full project scope.
- Around $27.1 million for Hebron High School. This price includes the full project scope.
- A partial maximum price for around $6.09 million at The Colony High School.
- A partial maximum price of $10.9 million for Marcus High School.
- A partial maximum price of $6.4 million at Castle Hills Elementary School.
- A partial maximum price of $2.4 million at Liberty Elementary School.
The bond also allocates funds for districtwide security door and front entrance vestibule upgrades at various campuses across all grade levels and the LISD Administrative Center. Trustees reviewed an early package of $12.7 million for the project, which contains the full elementary and high school vestibule work. A final maximum price for the full scope of construction, including middle and high school and administrative facilities, will be brought back before the board in August, per district documents. Construction is set to begin this summer and complete by August 2026.
