Lewisville ISD Superintendent Lori Rapp presented an update to the district's priorities at the 88th legislative session.

A closer look

The district's priorities at the session include:

Resource stewardship: Advocating for a comprehensive tax reform that will ensure property tax revenue generated in the school district stays within LISD; support oversight of unfunded mandates that negatively impact school fund balances

Student learning: Advocating for an account "ability" system that focuses on improvement and is forward-facing, according to the district

Community engagement: Advocating for educational equity among traditional public and charter schools, or vouchers where entities receive public funds

Student experience: Advocating for changes to the Texas Reading Academies while accelerating learning regulations to improve student and education efficiency

Quote of Note

"We ultimately believe that education is a shared entity with the community," Rapp said.
