Argyle ISD will hold a Community Meet & Greet for new superintendent Courtney Carpenter at 5:15 p.m. July 17 at the Argyle ISD Administration building, 6701 Canyon Falls Drive.

A closer look

Carpenter was named the district’s lone finalist by the Argyle ISD board at its June 22 meeting. She comes to Argyle ISD after serving as deputy superintendent for two years at CarrolI ISD in Southlake. A state-mandated 21-day waiting period occurs before she can officially be under contract as the district superintendent.

How we got here

Former Argyle ISD Superintendent Telena Wright retired after the 2022-23 school, with June 30 being her last day. She had served as the district superintendent from 2009 and had been with the district since 2000.

The details

Carpenter has 25 years of experience in public education, and before her two years in Carroll ISD, she was at Midlothian ISD for six years as a campus principal before being promoted to director of instructional support, executive director of innovation and learning and chief administrative officer, according to an Argyle ISD news release. She also held the interim superintendent of schools role before heading to Carroll ISD.
