Argyle ISD officials have moved a campus principal into an administrative role at central office.
Dawn Jordan, Argyle South Elementary School principal, is the new assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, district officials stated in a June 14 news release. She replaces Deana Steeber, who left the district to become the Sulphur Springs ISD superintendent.
Argyle ISD will immediately begin its search for the new principal at South Elementary, the release states.
The background
Jordan has served the past four years in AISD as a campus principal. She led the opening of Argyle South in Canyon Falls during the 2022-23 school year, the release states.
Jordan possesses 21 years of experience in education and more than 12 years in multiple campus leadership roles, officials said.
Prior to her time in Argyle ISD, Jordan served as an elementary principal in Lewisville ISD for two years and three years in Mississippi. She was named the 2018 LISD PTA Principal of the Year and was nominated for LISD Principal of the Year in 2019. While serving as a principal at Pascagoula-Gautier ISD, she implemented a school-wide literacy plan and built an English as a Second Language parent group.
At South Elementary, she helped implement Professional Learning Communities, initiated Learning Walks to share best practices for teachers, and developed a campus strategic plan and emergency plan, the release states. When she was the principal at Argyle Intermediate School, the campus received an “A” in accountability and all distinctions.
In addition to her administration experience, Jordan has extensive experience as a classroom teacher. She has taught high school biology, French and Spanish, and elementary Spanish.
