Argyle ISD has a new police chief as the district's former chief has stepped down, leaving his post June 13.

What happened

Eli Davis, who joined the Argyle ISD Police Department in 2022 and served as the Argyle South Elementary School police officer, is the district’s new chief of police. Scott Collins had been the district’s chief and served in that role for a little over one year. Davis also taught law enforcement at Argyle High School. Davis begins his new role June 14.

Collins had been the chief since March 2022, according to a district release from last year. He previously served as the Aubrey ISD police chief since 2014 and possesses more than 20 years of experience in law enforcement, firefighting and emergency medical services. He resigned his post, said Rick Herrin, director of communications with the district, who did not respond to email questions about Collins’ departure. Community Impact left a message with Collins.

Davis will transition to police chief for the 2023-24 school year and serve as the Argyle High School campus officer, the release states. His experience in law enforcement dates to 2017, as he served in the Flower Mound Police Department and California Highway Patrol.

During his time with CHP, Davis worked as a field training officer, public information officer and terrorism liaison officer, and he was part of the Special Response Team and was a M.A.D.D. Award Recipient, the release states. He served as a mental health officer with the FMPD. Davis also has past experience working for Crime Alert Security Systems, the release states.

He is a dedicated Eagle parent and an active member of the community who will provide valuable leadership to our safety and security team.”


The release states Davis helped lead the opening of South Elementary last school year and established the campus safety and security protocols, and he also “played an instrumental role in helping build the campus culture by implementing a kindness initiative for students.”
