“Ralph and Lynne both grew up in the Columbus, Ohio area, where Donatos originated in 1963,” the couple's son Travis Pence said in an email. “Since moving to Texas, they have always longed for a pizza that has golden crispy crust, the perfect amount of sauce and aged provolone cheese with edge-to-edge toppings like Donatos. But, none in the area lived up to these standards.”
Travis Pence will serve as the franchise operator. The family plans to open two more locations in the area over the next five years.
The restaurant serves pizza that features smoked provolone cheeses among other key ingredients.
“Our family-recipe pepperoni is made from a premium blend of pork and lean cuts of beef,” the company website states. “We put 100 pieces on every large pepperoni pizza we make. We use fresh, hand-cut Roma tomatoes, onions and green peppers. And original, family recipe sausage and meatballs.”
