High Plains Trail will now start construction following Argyle Town Council approving the final plat April 21, said Jason Weaver, the civil engineer for the project from GMcivil.

The overview

High Plains Trail will connect the planned mixed use development at Furst Ranch to US 377 with a 24-foot paved road and grand entrance, Weaver said.

Additionally, the plan includes 7.66 acres of open space with 6-foot trails, a 4-foot sidewalk, a pavilion overlooking a pond and a trailhead pavilion. The property is adjacent to Liberty Christian School in Argyle and the town of Flower Mound.

A second entrance to the property will be for emergency access only at Smoot Road and US 377, according to town documents. Following the first phase of Furst Ranch, there are plans for this entrance to become a second paved four-lane road into the development.

The details

The municipal utility district for the Bartonville portion of Furst Ranch will own and maintain the roads and open space, Weaver said.

Additionally, no significant traffic issues are posed by the development, but a traffic signal may need to be installed in the future at the High Plains Trail and US 377 intersection, Community Impact previously reported.
