A 60-acre mixed-use development called Chadwick Farms is in the works in Northlake.

The details

Chadwick Farms is set to include up to 900 multi-family units, a hotel with more than 150 rooms, a conference center and 60,000 square feet of space for restaurants, retail and entertainment. It will sit next to the StarCenter Multisport Northlake, a more than 200,000-square-foot indoor youth sports facility that is expected to draw around 1.3 million visitors annually once fully operational.

Northlake Town Manager Drew Corn said Chadwick Farms “is the wraparound development that we need” to make the StarCenter successful.

The land is owned by Canadian-based Western Securities, which has been in the business of operating, owning, developing and managing multifamily, retail and office properties for 90 years.

Elise Mikus, development director of Chadwick Farms, said the economy is just right for this kind of project.

“The economy is really robust right now, and we think the opportunity is there to build more apartments,” Mikus said.

What’s happening?

Mikus said the project will be done in phases, with the first phase likely including some 300 multi-family units.

“We’ve graded the property, it’s already zoned,” Mikus said. “We’re just looking for opportunities to try to bring the right mix of uses to Northlake and meet the demands of what’s going on out there.”

What's next?

The project has been in the works for about two years now and will take another year and a half or so to be built.

Mikus expects retailers and restaurants could begin opening their spaces in the summer or fall of 2026, but couldn’t say what tenants might open in these spaces. She said there’s a growing demand in the area for this kind of development.

“The demand and the activity going on in that northwestern part of Fort Worth, Tarrant County, as well as Denton County, is expanding rapidly,” Mikus said. “We feel like this is an area that has promise and people are looking for these kinds of services, and we think it’s a really good fit for us all.”
