The details
The hotel will have 111 rooms and the conference center will have 8,000 square feet of usable space. Northlake Town Manager Drew Corn said that the hotel and conference center is expected to open later this spring or early this summer.
Construction on the hotel and conference center kicked off in August 2023 and was originally set to open in fall 2025, according to previous Community Impact reporting. Northlake bought the land in 2021 for $1.7 million.
What they're saying
"The council and previous councils have sought a conference center for banquets, training sessions, and ceremonies for Northlake residents and the public for over seventeen years," Corn said in an email. "In addition to [town] events mentioned above, the center will allow sports teams and tournaments to have awards banquets or other events related to the youth sports activities at the StarCenter Multisport Northlake."
What’s next?
Town officials will purchase the conference center from the developer, Lodging Host, when it’s all said and done. They will issue $4.6 million in revenue bonds in May to help purchase the site from the developer for $5.9 million. The remaining $1.3 million will be paid for with hotel occupancy tax reserves.
The revenue bond debt service will be paid for by hotel occupancy tax revenues moving forward. While the town will own the conference center, it will be run by Lodging Host.
The center will also have a catering kitchen where people can bring in their own caterers, Corn said.
