The Denton location, which is planned within Hillwood’s mixed-use development Landmark, will be the first H-E-B store in the city.
The details
The new store is expected to sit on 20 acres along the northwest corner of Robson Ranch Road I-35W, per the news release.
“This is a rapidly growing area, and we are excited to introduce this new H-E-B store to Denton and surrounding towns,” said Mabrie Jackson, managing director of Public Affairs for H-E-B and Central Market. “We look forward to meeting our new neighbors and sharing more details soon.”
Although a purchase of the 20-acre site for the store is not finalized, construction is expected to begin later this spring, according to the news release.
Some context
Argyle officials had received a development proposal that included plans for a H-E-B store within the Heritage development, which sits on the southwest corner of Robson Ranch Road and I-35W. The town’s planning and zoning commission recommended approval for a 124-acre development, which would have housed the grocer and a potential Baylor Scott & White wellness campus, at its March 5 meeting.
Heritage property owner Jim Wills told the commission that even if H-E-B opted to build in Denton, there were still plans to build a grocery store within his proposed 124-acre development. The grocery store is planned for the first phase, according to previous reporting by Community Impact.
What’s next?
H-E-B plans to announce plans for a groundbreaking ceremony in the near future, per the news release. The grocer is expected to share more details of the plan at the groundbreaking.
