Vendors at the market offer a variety of goods such as flowers, fresh produce and candles.
The details
The post that appeared on the market’s Facebook page said shutting it down at Parker Square was "devastating" for the community and vendors. On Facebook, users responded to the news with some lamenting the shutdown and others suggesting new places for the market.
A number of people recommended the River Walk as the market’s new location. Just a matter of hours later, the new spot was secured.
“The amount of support for the market today was astounding,” a follow up Facebook post on the market’s social media page read.
What they're saying
Matt Brown, who oversees strategy and operations for Four Seasons Markets, the organization behind the Flower Mound Farmers Market, said in an emailed statement that the River Walk has “incredible potential to become a vibrant hub for the community.”
"Hosting the Farmers Market at the River Walk could be a great opportunity to drive more foot traffic, introduce new patrons to the area and support the continued development of this unique space," Brown said. "By bringing the market’s established customer base and the energy it fosters, we believe it can help the River Walk gain the visibility and activity it needs to thrive.”
Brown said it is crucial residents visit the new location in these early stages to help build momentum and support growth of both the market and the area as a whole.
"Their participation plays a key role in establishing the market as a community staple and driving continued development in the area,” Brown said. "The town has long envisioned the Farmers Market at the River Walk, and we hope town leadership and staff will show their support to make it a true cornerstone of the community."
