What’s happening
Denton Freedom House is a Christian ministry that has a main campus, multiphase men’s and women’s homes, the Freedom Food Pantry, a coffee shop and an event center, according to its website. Denton Freedom House is a nonprofit addiction recovery program, which offers, besides housing, work training, Christian education and mentorship.
“We’re going to have classes all week where [people] can give to the Denton Freedom House,” said Julie Costley, founder, CEO and instructor at Shine Fitness.
A grand finale event, called Freedom Flow, will be held at 10 a.m. July 15, and donations will be accepted.
What you need to know
Shine Fitness opened in March and is a locally owned yoga and fitness studio focused on providing group experiences in a fully serviced, all accessible, community atmosphere, said Grace Platon, communications strategist with Communicate Grace LLC, which provides public relations consulting services to Shine Fitness. Shine Fitness offers various instructor-led classes with a focus on yoga and high-intensity interval training for all skill levels.
Platon said Shine Fitness is defined as a state-of-the-art hot yoga and strength training studio focused on a total mind-body connection for students with instructors dedicated to members’ health and well-being, offering guidance and options to meet students where they are on their fitness journey.
“The advanced infrared heat technology used at the studio has been shown to support heart health, blood circulation and muscle relaxation,” Platon said in an email.
She said the studio is a “warm and welcoming community that offers challenges to level up while helping students understand everyone has a unique path to wellness.”
Classes offered, among others, are hot yoga, yin and vinyasa flow movements, high-intensity interval training and core sessions.
“We’re really pleased with the amount of members we’ve had so far,” Costley said. “Our biggest [desire] here is building community, and we’ve had a strong base to start with. We just keep capturing people that we don’t didn't know, and they’re becoming fast friends. We really want to be part of the community that gives back. We don’t just want to be here on the corner and keeping to ourselves. We want to make a difference. So we’re looking for those charities that we believe in and that we really want to help.”
