Eren Turner said she likes helping people who are going through transitions in their lives.

Her business website features a quote from writer C.S. Lewis about facing the future: “You can’t go back and change the beginning. But you can start where you are and change the ending.”

Turner opened a counseling service, Starting Point Counseling Center, on May 1 at 3861 Long Prairie Road, Ste. 108, Flower Mound.

“I am basically returning to the area,” she said. “I ran Youth & Family Counseling, which was a nonprofit, for several years. I then left and worked for Denton ISD, so I’m returning back to the Flower Mound-Highland Village-Lewisville community at this time with my own practice, and I’m excited to get back into serving clients and working with people in the community.”

Youth & Family Counseling, which has closed, originally was based in Flower Mound but moved offices to Lewisville.

Starting Point Counseling Center offers individual, group, couples and family counseling. The business also offers licensed professional counselor supervision to people seeking licensure as a licensed professional counselor in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Turner is a licensed professional counselor supervisor, licensed in Texas and holds a master's degree in counseling psychology from Texas Woman's University. She has been a counselor for nearly 20 years. She has spent her career in private practice, nonprofit and school settings and has worked with a wide range of specialties and modalities, according to her website, and has experience in working with children, adolescents and adults. She also is an approved supervisor and has been training associates since 2009 as they gain licensure.

“I love working with transitions ... all the transitions in life: becoming a parent, either starting a relationship or ending a relationship, kids going off to school, the loss of somebody—just all those times in life where you’re just kind of like, ‘What do I do now?’” Turner said.
