Top priorities
Rapid growth is a blessing and a concern. Investment of citizen taxes should first go to public safety, transportation and mental health. I am uniquely qualified to serve the council in the area of health issues caused by drugs/alcohol by serving as an associate judge. We must balance the investments with being fiscally responsible. We must address traffic issues with creativity and efficient forecasting of growth patterns. Frisco must meet growing needs with maturity and wisdom.

Top priorities
The rapid growth Frisco has been fortunate to experience comes with a unique set of challenges. One of

these is quality of services and overall quality of life. I believe we can maintain the high standards we have now, but we must be vigilant to make sure we are being good stewards of taxpayer money as we manage these growth challenges. We must also continue to lower taxes in order to alleviate the financial burden many residents are currently experiencing.

Shona Huffman

Top priorities
I intend to focus on improved advocacy for Frisco at the regional, state and federal level, drawing on my
experience as director of government affairs for the Frisco Chamber of Commerce. I also feel strongly that we must collaborate

with our North Texas Municipal Water District partners to keep the Lower Bois D’arc Creek Reservoir on track. Finally, I want to help with leadership transition as we see several senior staff and council [members] depart due to retirement and term limits.

Ensure excellent yet balanced growth: We must maintain Frisco’s excellent quality of life and limit the growth of multifamily housing.

  3. Fiscal responsibility: Frisco families work hard for their money, and I will not vote to raise taxes.

Bill Woodard

Top priorities
I will use my finance background and the knowledge I’ve gained from serving on the planning & zoning commission for nearly six years to continue the well-managed growth we’ve experienced in Frisco. A solid understanding of our comprehensive master plans, parks plans, capital spending and infrastructure goals, and a keen eye toward the budget allows me to help council keep the quality of our amenities high and keep our spending and taxes low.

Phil Ramirez

Top priorities

  1. The school board has a fiduciary duty to oversee the use of taxpayer dollars. As such, I would support the hiring of an internal auditor that would ensure continued due diligence in managing our cost-effective fiscal approach.

  2. As a teacher for Collin College, I see the results of a Frisco ISD education directly. I will start a discussion concerning the lack of final exams and the retesting policy.

  3. Local Election Guide Phil Ramirez[/caption]

I see opportunity for improvement in our district to further develop relationships with the local colleges and universities.

Anjali Shirvaikar

Top priorities
My top priority is ensuring excellence in education by keeping class and school sizes small. For 14 years, I have seen the positive effects of this philosophy on my kids. I will also emphasize strong fiscal responsibility by allocating funds to put actual classroom instruction first. Finally, I will maintain strong relationships with city and community partners and build stronger relationships with our state legislators. Vote for me to uphold FISD’s vision, mission and tradition.
