The vacancy was left by Matt Kormann who was recently re-elected for another three-year term but resigned because his family relocated out of state. The board interviewed two other candidates for the position before taking a vote: David Almand and Douglas Lies. Carlton will serve until the 2017 election where he can choose to run for re-election to finish out the remainder of the three-year term. Carlton is an active volunteer in Carroll ISD and has two children in the district at Dawson Middle School and Old Union Elementary. He recently served as a co-chair on the Capital Needs Planning Committee. He also served on the Carroll Education Foundation Board for five years and was co-leader for the Strategic Action Committee on Safety and Security.
