Oprah's happiness guru to speak at seminar in Grapevine

Shawn Achor, author of "The Happiness Advantage," will address students, parents, teachers, counselors and other educational professionals at “Finding Your Path: Fusing Authenticity and Happiness to Guide Success,” a seminar hosted by Southlake's Fusion Academy on Oct. 23 from 1-3:30 p.m. at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center, 1501 Gaylord Trail, Grapevine.

“'The Happiness Advantage' is directly aligned with Fusion’s philosophy of fostering an emotional connection that gives students hope and helps them achieve success,” said Bradford Astin, Regional Vice President of Fusion Academy, who oversees Fusion campuses in Texas. “We’re delighted to host this presentation featuring Shawn to help students, educators, parents and others gain practical solutions on finding their passions.”

Achor is endorsed by Oprah, and is a primary advisor and teacher for the Oprah Winfrey Network. Achor is also CEO of Good Think Inc., a Cambridge-based consulting firm, where he conducts research to understand where human potential, success and happiness intersect.

Presentations at the event will include:

  • Shawn Achor, keynote speaker, on “The Happiness Advantage: Linking Positive Brains to Performance”

  • Grace Losada, EdD, Fusion Academy, on “Navigating Transitions into the ‘Real World’”

  • Beach Pace, Roadtrip Nation, on “Aligning Passions to Careers”

Achor’s keynote address will take place from 2-3:30 p.m.

Tickets for the general public are available for $40 at www.achoratfusion.com, while nonFusion students can purchase tickets for $10 with valid school or college identification.

The event is part of Fusion Academy’s Annual EPIC Summit (Excellence, Passion, Innovation, Courage – EPIC) for Fusion teachers and students. Fusion Academy, an accredited private school with a campus in Southlake, provides one-to-one classrooms for kids from grades 6-12. Fusion’s nontraditional school model allows complete customization for each student, wherever they are in their educational path, and creates a real emotional connection.

Fusion Academy Southlake campus, located at 301 State Street, is the sixth Fusion Academy in Texas, joining schools in Austin, Dallas, Houston, Plano, The Woodlands and 27 other locations across the country that have opened or will be opened soon in California, Connecticut, Illinois, New Jersey and New York.
