A joint meeting between Frisco ISD and the city of Frisco on March 31 focused on how the two could collaborate on strategic and comprehensive planning.

FISD and Frisco leadership took turns presenting long-term plans for moving the school district and city forward.

"We want a strategic plan that is completely and 100 percent compatible with strengthening, continuing and really taking the city and the school district forward, not just resting on what we've accomplished," FISD Superintendent Jeremy Lyon said.

The school district presented the categories for its strategic planning, which included facilities and budget, and asked for city staff's and council's input on each category. The planning team for FISD will then take the suggestions into consideration before presenting the plan to the board of trustees for approval in May.

City staff presented highlights of the upcoming bond election and draft Comprehensive Plan update. City planners pointed out to school district officials that FISD's enrollment within Frisco may be lower than originally projected at build-out.

City Council is expected to vote on the final Comprehensive Plan at the April 7 meeting.
