Frisco group submits petition to legalize all alcohol sales, waits for verification The Frisco Committee for Economic Growth submitted its petition in August to legalize all alcohol sales in Frisco.[/caption]

A petition to legalize all alcohol sales in the city of Frisco was submitted to the city Aug. 21.

Frisco’s Office of the City Secretary received a petition from Texas Petition Strategies, which was retained by the political action committee Frisco Committee for Economic Growth.

There are approximately 15,150 signatures on the petition, according to the city.

The committee said in July that it had more than enough signatures but was waiting for the right time to turn in the petition.

The deadline to submit the petition was Aug. 24 to be considered for the May election.

City Secretary Jenny Page and her staff have until Sept. 21 to verify the signatures.

Once verified Page must present the petition to City Council at the Oct. 6 regular meeting.

If enough signatures are verified, the issue would automatically go to voters in May without council having to vote on an election.
