Frisco is closer to having another hospital under construction.

The Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission approved the site plans for Texas Health Frisco, which is planned on a 20-acre lot on the southeast corner of Dallas Parkway and Cobb Hill Drive.

The hospital campus will include an 80-bed acute care hospital, a 120,000-square-foot medical office building and a four-story parking garage.

Part of the plans the commission approved includes a living screen adjacent to the nearby neighborhood so as to create a green connector between the campus and the neighborhood. According to city documents, the Frisco Cobb Hill Homeowners Association approved these plans.

Arlington-based Texas Health Resources announced the plans for the new hospital in February. In June, the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center announced they would be jointly operating and paying for the hospital and office building.

Construction is anticipated to begin in late August and last about 27 months. The medical campus is scheduled to open in 2019.
