Construction will start on a new apartment complex in McKinney, and a new indoor playground is set to open in Plano. Check out six major North Texas construction permits filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. This list is not comprehensive.
1. Franklin Branch Apartments
A nine-building apartment complex called Franklin Branch Apartments will break ground in early March 2027, according to TDLR documents. Previous Community Impact reporting states that the apartment complex will offer 288 units. Developer The NRP Group partnered with the McKinney Housing Finance Corp. to build the complex to offer income-restricted rental units.

2. Denton self storageTDLR documents state a new four-story self-storage building will start construction on Teasley Lane in early October and be completed in early January 2028. The building will cover 122,058 square feet and cost about $11.1 million, according to the documents.

3. Dennard’s RowlettA new $5.1 million retail building called Dennard’s Rowlett will start construction in Celina in mid-August, according to TDLR documents. Construction will wrap in late June 2027 and cover 24,000 square feet.

4. Mercedes-Benz dealership renovationsThe Mercedes-Benz dealership on Texan Trail in Grapevine will undergo $3.7 million in renovations to update the ceiling, floor and furniture, per TDLR documents. Work on the renovations will start in September and be completed in August 2027.

5. Club Car WashA new Club Car Wash is slated to start construction in northeast Fort Worth in early November, according to TDLR documents. The car wash will offer a drive-thru car wash and self-service vacuums. The company operates several North Texas locations, including car washes in McKinney, Denton and Prosper, according to the company's website.

6. Chuck E. Cheese Adventure WorldIndoor entertainment venue Chuck E. Cheese Adventure World will open a new location in Plano at the Creek Walk Village shopping center, TDLR documents state. Workers will convert an existing 18,000-square-foot retail space to accommodate the new business. The Chuck E. Cheese Adventure World location in Arlington features playground spaces like slides and obstacle courses.
